That is what many of you don't understand when you say come home.

I worked and lived in Abuja for 18 years. I ran my own private company from 2001 until 2014.

Two million of the likes of  Buhari cannot change Nigeria.

Everything  is wrong with Nigeria. The Director  won't  give  you  Contract  except  you  pay  up front .
The banks  won't  give  you  loan  except  you concede  a certain  percentage .
The man supervising the contract  won't pass the job except  you play ball. The clerk  won't pass your file for payment  except  you rob his palm.

The account department  won't raise your payment  voucher  or cheque unless you see them. I can go on and on.

The worst thing is that it has become a norms that nobody  sees anything wrong with. If you think otherwise , they begin to think you are sick and not normal. If you try to stand in there  way, you put your  life at risk. If you get killed  there is no justice  system in place  to seek redress and bring the perpetrators to book.

The police is corrupt , the Judge is same. Nobody cares about anybody. No law and order. I looked from my left to right, everybody is only desperate about one thing "money".

They we will kill anybody and anything that stand between  them and money. I am an electrical engineer with MNSE  and COREN.

The system don't care about my qualifications. Distribution and transmission jobs are given to alhajis, friends and relatives  without any basic skills. I started asking myself, how do I convince  my kids that education  and hard work  is rewarding? When fools, agberos  and touts  are running  the country, fom National Assembly  to Presidency.

Is this what my four sons will also go through. In 2014 I decided I have had enough. I decided I was leaving. I immigrated to Australia  with  my family. Don't put your self in harms way for any reason. the problem  of Nigeria is in the hands of Nigerians living in Nigeria.

Try starting a gate house in your village, everybody wants to profiteer from it.

The bricklayer, the carpenter, the mason and even your brother who claim to be supervising on your behalf.

They are corrupt, morally  bankrupt and selfish. Everybody there thinks about himself and nobody is thinking about Nigeria .

You don't have to be the one to go there to change anything . Let those under the hammer start the revolution. I beg make we hear word.

The US Election: My Take.

Hmmm...
The whole world is talking about it,everyone is interested in who would succeed Obama as the US President?
Well,it has come and gone and congratulatory messages have started coming in...even from the Kremlin (Russia)! As a patriot of Nigeria ,I'm less concerned as to who won or lost. I'm much more concerned as to what lessons could be learnt and the fate of my country,Nigeria,with the choice the Americans have made?!
The following are my take from the elections:
It all began and ended today, on Wednesday
As compared to the Nigerian electoral system,this is election on  steroids! The very straight forward manner of conducting all elections in a single day without a hitch despite the much greater topographic diversity and higher population of the US,it's a great challenge to us as a nation.
I don't think it is impossible for us to conduct elections with such speed and a transparent election for that matter.I think it is a BIG challenge for us,the most populous black nation of the world!

The Opposition Conceding Defeat
Hilary Clinton called Donald Trump on his election as the US President. The former President,President Jonathan,though, have set the pace in this regard,it's my hope that we can continue to do that as we can see that it's a very good thing to concede defeat when we have been clearly beaten. There's no point being a bad loser!

Do or Die Affair Politics should be Shunned
It's not happening in the US and it's NOT because of the fat salaries of politicians in Nigeria that we experience political riots (you don't need much to start one it could be free!) but because of the big ignorance that's widespread. National Orientation Agency should please take note. There's a great deal to be done,yet,it appears that the Agency has gone to sleep!

Ethnicity and Sharing Formula Nonsense
The so called Federal Character,to me, remains one of our greatest hindrance to development. I mean,if that were to be in place in America,I doubt if the 4 Nigerians that contested in the US elections would stand a chance.
Heard that in some place up North and Lagos, similar maturity and integration are already taking place. Thumbs up for such states,the other parts of the country, especially, the East, please,take note!

Live Political Debates and Shows Prior to the Voting Period
Aaah! I wish we would work hard as a nation and insist on this by 2019!
One of the major roles of the media is to ensure ceaseless communication between the government and the citizens. Check out the smoking hot debates that were organized and well attended by the aspirants. Subhanallah! If by chance,you are looking for a way to weed out corrupt politicians and their accomplices,this is surely a way to go.
Let's hope our media outlets would take note and be more proactive next time there's an upcoming election. Now,that's not to look down on their contributions to the last general elections, it's just that without the debates,there's way too much left out on the table!
We need to know our prospective leaders better and know how prepared they are for the job. Nigerian media,please take note!
These are my lessons and takes from the American elections,I don't for you,but,as far as I'm concerned,who wins or loses is NOT my business as it doesn't spell progress or regress for Nigeria UNLESS we allow it!

Arise O'compatriots!

The elections have come and gone and have been lost and won. It's time to build the country via economic advancements not by political arguments (as to who is better or worse than the other).
Like it or not,we have made an outstanding achievement already under President Buhari. We are now living a peaceful life as against a distorted and disturbing lifestyle we were leading before the elections. Boko Haram no longer post videos of terror,rather,they are now releasing the Chibok girls in bits. Thank God and kudos to the Nigerian Military and of course,the Buhari regime.
Yes,Buhari have committed a lot of blunders too,most of which are economic in nature. Is that enough reason for us to keep our hands folded as we have always done and do NOTHING but argue and complain endlessly on social media???
My Clarion Call to the Youths
Unless we do something really positive about Nigeria, we would continue to rot away in poverty despite our immense store of wealth! We need to be proactive and make Nigeria work.
There's nothing we can do to improve the economy, this is why a good number of Nigerians fold their arms and watch the good things of life pass them by. I totally disagree. There's a whole lot we can do without the government. But,first things first!
Let Us Assume that there's No Government
Unless we do that,we would still be expecting them to do one MAJOR thing or the other for us. The BLUNT TRUTH is that we might wait till eternity!
In my immediate community the former senator, Senator Gbemisola Saraki sank a borehole water source in the area. It was meant to be a motorized borehole but we ended up with a manual one. We were grateful all the same. We enjoyed it for a year or two without a single problem. So,when it developed a fault,some of us opined we make contributions to get it fixed but some elders think we should call on the Senator to help us repair it. We got help after a long while but it didn't last long. It went faulty again,we had the impression that repairs were to be free but we started paying heavily for it.
To cut the long story short,the community finally agreed to convert the borehole to a motorized one since the manual type is no longer reliable. But how???
The elders asked us to wait on the local government but I and 2 other guys didn't think it was right. Elections were in the corner so the elders thought of seeking it as a reward for voting any aspiring candidate into power. It didn't work out as both APC & PDP made promises they didn't fulfil. It was through community efforts that the borehole is working today.
We need to do the same in Nigeria. Unless we forget them,we wouldn't realize how powerful and capable we are as a people. Today, in my community, the problem is no longer water but electric power and bad roads. Insha Allah,we shall be tackling the roads very soon.
Little Drops of Water makes a Mighty Ocean
Rome was not built in a day. It's going to be pretty slow but we shall get there. The community can be advanced without the help of the government PROVIDED the people of the community are ready to work hard on it.
It was estimated that we would need between N300 000 and N400 000 to convert the borehole to a motorized one,but,in the end,I doubt if we spent more that N250 000. This money was raised through the imposture of a levy. We simply broke down the cost and spread it over the whole community and voila! We discovered that should every member agrees to pay just N1000 to the course,we would get it done!
In Reality,it doesn't cost that much to get it Right.
It was during the course of the borehole project that I discovered that the contractors in collaboration with people in government release a very high estimation depending on the level of government that's involved and the quality of the project that's intended.
For instance,if the borehole were to be proposed to the government, our estimation has to be like N1.1 million whereas it actually costs less than N250 000.
So, please, don't be fooled by the prices that you hear on the news. It doesn't really cost that much.
Be a Responsible Resident of your Community
Unless you are socially responsible, all the stories I've been relating to you won't make sense to you. I'm appealing ONLY to the socially responsible. That's why I titled this right up 'Arise O'Comaptriots'. This is because it's only the patriots that can be inspired by this.

Our Greatest Problem as Nigerians

Our greatest problem as Nigerians is not tribalism, its not Nepotism,marginalization or corruption. Our Greatest problem is ignorance.

Most Nigerians are Ignorant of how Democratic systems work.
Long before the emergence of the Europeans on the African continent,Africa was divided into kingdoms,emirates and empires. It was the Europeans that brought us democracy.
The British Lord it over us in Nigeria while the Lordships of Cameroon, Ivory coast, Senegal were in the hands of the French. In short, the European powerful shared Africa like an a inheritance of there's. This goes a lot to tell why some countries are somewhat imbalance when it comes to tribal affiliations. There are situations whereby people of same tribe fall into different countries. The people of Adamawa in Nigeria are a typical example of this political broo hoo waha.
Unfortunately, despite the level of exposure and education of the peoples of Nigeria,we still see ourselves first in tribal colours before the National colours of green white green. That's bad,pretty bad. This explains why we have been getting it wrong politically and unless we change this attitude of ours,we shall continue to embarrass ourselves in the global village we find ourselves today.
We need to grow up,wise up and abandon the useless,shameless tribal war we currently indulge in. No one should be shouting 'marginalization ','secession' or 'nepotism'.
We chant these words largely because we are ignorant of how a true democracy works. Funny enough,those that are supposed to know and lecture us seem much more confused than us! It's so disappointing!!!

Civic Education is the Answer
To so many out there,politics is a dirty game and it's not meant for the kind hearted. It is a game for the callous and criminal minds. Such is the impression and mindset of the majority of Nigerians,but, is that the case?
Politics is simply a methodology and activities involved in the running of a government.
Now,from the above definition ,there's nothing about it that suggests criminality. In fact,what it suggests is responsibility. In other words,being a social being,humans may have to interact and relate with one another. If that's going to be the case,there's need for law and order and to ensure that laws are effectively enforced we need some people to volunteer to see to it. We would also need highly intelligent and dedicated people to make the laws as well. This is why we need leaders...political leaders.
We need to ensure peaceful coexistence in our communities and to ensure that,we need to find responsible,intelligent and trustworthy people  to run these affairs for us. That's the true essence of the civil service and political leaders. So,by implication, the President, governors,senators,honourables and any other person that was elected to office and all those that work for and with them are in actual facts servants...our servants!
Now,that's the message for today. All political post holders and government workers of all sorts are actually my servants,your servants our servants why? Because we are the ones that put them there. We gave them all the powers they wield and our common wealth in trust. They are like our houseboys that do all the dirty laundry for us. When a house boy messes up,what do you do?

The Youth in Nigerian Democracy:Removing the Smoke screen

It was once reported that a former head of state of this country,Nigeria,stated that the youth are not ripe enough to take control of affairs....do I blame him? Hell no!
A Yoruba adage has it that "igba ni yo so ibi ama fokun ko lorun e" meaning that it's a gourd/calabash that tells what part of it shall we tie our rope! By implicative meaning,IT'S THE YOUTH THAT HAS THE ONUS RESPONSIBILITY TO TELL WHEN IT'S READY TO TAKE OVER...NO ONE'S GONNA LET US HAVE IT ON A PLATTER...WE GOT TO FIGHT FOR IT!
Unless we strife for a change,we would continue to fit in ONLY as mere tools in the hands of these old men.Unless we strife,unless we fight! But how do we do,you may ask...it's not that difficult...it begins with a change in our core believes about ourselves,country and our togetherness as a nation.WE NEED TO START THINKING AND ACTING AS NIGERIANS AND NO MORE AS A TRIBESMAN,MUSLIM,CHRISTIAN OR TRADITIONALIST...NO MORE OF THOSE...IT'S TIME TO START THINKING AS NIGERIANS! This is not possible without proper civic education that we so much lack as youth.
Let me warn that this is not going to be easy neither is it going to be done overnight but the fact remains it's possible and attainable if we work at it!
Majority of us,the youth,are so carried away by the peanuts we receive from destructive errands we run for these selfish old guys,so much that we find it difficult to think straight anymore. It's as bad as accepting ANY JOB AT ALL...INCLUDING CRIMINAL AND DESTRUCTIVE MISSIONS from these evil men so long it would yield cash. In fact,there's no longer such things as good or bad, constructive or destructive,right or wrong anymore in the hearts of the youth ...these days,boys would sell their conscience and lives for a mini bag of SEMOLINA OR RICE!
We all know what I'm saying,I don't need to expantiate further...during Ekiti elections campaign period,pictures of able bodied men and women were displayed on facebook queuing for mini bags of rice and a sum of N3000 in the PDP camp...it was actually cooked rice in the APC's camp....have we turned beggers/destitutes/refugees...I mean what for,what else? People's votes of course! But wait a minute,do they really need your votes to win elections???
This KEY question is a vital question the youth have to ask themselves and seek a genuine answer to: "Why do they have to go all the way to procure such a large amount of goods and merchandise to appease you guys ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY DON'T REALLY NEED YOU TO VOTE?
Some would even say that "I would collect the money and vote someone else"! It would have been a bright idea should it be that winners are determined via ballot. The truth, my brother, is that all those goodies you receive during elections are to silence you,it's a price they pay for your conscience! Once you are paid,no matter the results,you cannot complain,your presence at their rallies are evidences that you support their candidature... so as you can see, they are no fools, all they need see is that you take their bribes,they don't need your vote...the moment you do that,they happily proceed with all forms of malpractices without any qualms.Simply because you have sold the right to rig elections and power to embezzle as much as they can when took the rice and money from them!But should you have rejected their peanuts, things would have turned out differently.
One;they can't be sure you are for them or not;two:rigging might prove difficult since you refused their bribe,you are most likely going to protest any wrong doing at the polls and thirdly, since it's a collective decision of the majority,you would have become a multi headed Hydra that can't be defeated as they won't know who or where to strike...
....such is the power of our unity...like I've said before,NOTHING can stop us if we unite to strife for a goal!

Independence day,wetin we dey celebrate sef?!

Congratulate Nigerians on Nigeria's 53rd anniversery as an idependent state and what you'll get as response,most often than not would be negative. The negative responses are as a result of several reasons,but,in my view,the variety of reasons behind these negativity can be traced back to a MEGA reason of THE DISBELIEF OF THE NIGERIAN PEOPLE IN THE NIGERIAN PROJECT!
Most Nigerians do not belief in Nigeria,very few Nigerians are proud of their country. This is why we experience communal clashes in Nigeria,we don't see ourselves as one. Allow me to show you how this singular factor have contributed to virtually every problem we face as a nation.

I dare say it all began with our founding fathers that were responsible for the creation of the first 3 major political parties in Nigerian history. True,they joined hands to rid the country of British rule,but,unfortunately and sadly too,they were the author of our greatest problem as a country. THEY CREATED POLITICAL PARTIES IN LINE WITH TRIBAL AND ETHNICAL DIVIDES OF THE COUNTRY.As a result,people's way of thinking was conditioned along ethnical lines and unfortunately,we are still yet to break away from this evil and viscious circle of tribalism. Over the years,several criminals have been created from this tribal bias and we have refused to bring the culprits to book,guess why...TRIBALISM! This is why Nigeria have failed to develop all this while. People commit heinous crimes and should be brought to book but we disagree and shield them from prosecution simply because they are our tribesmen.
If a hausa man is caught,the Arewa Elder's Forum would stand by and protect him,when the criminal is a Yoruba,OPC would claim that if he were to be a hausa,he would have gone scot-free! The Ibos are like that too. This has been the case in Nigeria till date.
Despite the fact that Jonathan is not performing,ex- militants from Niger Delta would threaten war if he is not elected as President the second term. The Notherners too insist on the next President being a hausa,is that democracy please???
Personally,I have no problem with anybody from any part of the country becoming president,my problem,however,is lack of accountability on the side of our elected leaders. No one complains of lack of performance (if the person in question is of our tribe),rather,we busy ourselves with verbal tribal wars. It's quiet unfortunate we,the youth,refuse to see through the smoke screen (guess its too thick for us!), we do not realize,that all these talks of National Conference,presidential candidature of Jonathan ....etc are all in the interest of the aristocratic few and not in the national interest.
Tribalism born of our lack of faith in the Nigerian project is the major problem we face in this country. My clarion call,therefore,goes to the youth of this country,guys,lets wise up and network to make things happen. Lets shun all the fake,selfish and tribalistic conflicts manufactured by the criminals created through the ethnic and tribalistic political culture of the past. Its high time we started seeing ourselves as Nigerians and not as hausas,yorubas or ibos. Let us all denounce the so called "federal character" - a curse and enemy of progressive competitiveness that's enshrined in our constitution. And remember as always that NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT HAS NEVER AND NEVER BE THROUGH POLITICS BUT THROUGH ECONOMIC ADVANCEMENT.
I,therefore,implore you all to denounce your membership to political parties and connect,mingle and communicate with one another nationwide for economic advancement. Lets do business! For this is the key to National development!!!
We may not have much to celebrate right now,but,at least,we are still together even after 53 years of independence,that is worth celebrating,so let us celebrate and at the same time reflect on our experience as a nation so as to hatch a progressive plan for the future!

2013 budget dey?

I was watching TV one quiet morning when a news headline from the national dailies was quoted which reads thus:"2013 budget unimplementable". It wasn't quite surprising to me,really,however, it was quite amusing that the first budget failure is happening NOT DURING MILITARY RULE but a civillian rule! Especially,the supposed best tenure in Nigerian history.
Its unfortunate that things can go this bad,I mean, every Nigerian and all businesses operating within our territories always look up to the national budget for economic direction. Its the budget of the country that helps businessmen to carve out a most effective business plan which has direct and indirect effects on the on Nigerians. It helps businesses to determine whether to employ more staff or to retrench some of their present employees,it also help to know whether to increase production or even shut down production of some products. This is because THE NATONAL BUDGET IS A YEARLY FINANCIAL PLAN THAT SHOWCASES THE GOVERNMENTAL ECONOMIC POLICIES AND STRATEGIES FOR THE YEAR.
You see,without a national budget,its quite difficult to tell what direction the nation is heading to financially and economically which in turn makes it difficult to tell which business to invest into and which business  you need to stay off from. As a result,businessmen tend to be cautious and either stop production or reduce it to the bearest minimum which is the reason why the economy seems to be at a grand halt.
A nation without a budget has no plan for the year,NO PLAN on spending for the year. He who fail to plan,they say,plans to fail!
In a situation whereby the president and his ministerial cabinet with their legion of special advisers that are paid so heavily to deliver democratic dividends to Nigerians have failed to deliver the very basic instrument of national economy,one cannot but wonder what people in government are actually doing in office?
Is it that the President refused to present a budget or the members of the national assembly refused to endorse it? Or,could it be that the unnecessary and rather childish 2015 second term ambition and the PDP faceoff has pre-occupied the President so much so that he has forgotten all about the budget? I mean,no budget for the year 2013... its very ridiculous!
The fact that he is currently changing his cabinet seems to have dashed all hopes that anything is happening this year. No budget,another first from President Jonathan...abi 2013 budget dey?

The Fuel Subsidy Protests - It's Ups and Downs

Considering the insults on Nigerians during the one - week protests/strike against the fuel subsidy removal and the aftermath when the FG deliberately sent soldiers to occupy OJOTA ahead of the protesters' arrival on the following Monday WITH GUNS,it's most glaring that the government that we have in this country do not bloody care how we fare,their primary concern is how to loot the more without being detected!But,for how long shall these people deny us our birthrights while we stand by and look???I say "enough is enough"! Just like any other Nigerian.But,is it enough to just say those words,wouldn't it be more meaningful if I can act on my words?
Honestly,I was surprised at the turn out for the protest,the more surprising is the fact that civil societies are now starting to live up to their responsibilities; meaning that subsequent protests/strikes shall be more interesting and dramatic than the usual 'hide and seek' games the NLC plays.Now,that is one BIG plus of the protests/strikes - it has successfully jolted our civil societies to their responsibilities.
Another rather interesting development was the free flow of information during the protests.People were suddenly aware of things that they were totally ignorant of,they got suddenly informed and things got worse for the government so much so that they have now lost so much ground with the people that PDP can not actually boast of people's support as before.I think this is good,very good for our democracy.
However,I shall implore civil societies to seize the opportunity presented by the protests/strike to step up efforts on civic education as that is where their power to win the government lies.The more informed are the people of their civic rights and responsibilities,the more in control they are and the more probable that they shall stand to fight for them!
Politicians over the years have been feeding fat on the ignorance of the general populace.The fact that most Nigerians are unaware of the kind of power they possess as citizens of this great country has made their manipulation pretty easy.I wish the civil societies both online and offline would see these loop holes and block them effectively against 2015 elections.
These societies should find a medium of communicating to Nigerians both in English and in local dialects of the people and use such mediums to awake the sense of patriotism in them so that they can stand up and fight for their own civic rights.
Talk of constitution amendments,fuel subsidy,deregulation of the oil sector and general improvement of the economy are just but a few areas where much work need to be done so as to ensure that the people knows and appreciate the present situation we find ourselves today as a country and most importantly,what can be done to improve it.
The Downs however,includes the fact that some people lost their lives during the struggle,May the Good Lord Make them rest in perfect peace.Ameen.
A second 'Down' is the fact that Labor,in the end disappointed Nigerians by calling off the strike.We understand the calling off of street protests but calling off the strike,ESPECIALLY when people had gone all out on a "panic buying fever" over the weekend in hope of and SUPPORT for the continuation of the protest/strike.It was quiet disappointing indeed.I really wish the civil society would take control of the strike next time!
Be as it may,I believe the government too have learnt a bitter lesson too - never ever to under estimate the power of the people and that,thanks to the social media outlets like the twitter and facebook,Nigerians are better informed and updated.
For the sake of emphasis,I'm imploring the civil society groups to go live and active on these social medias to pass useful information from time to time to the people as well as sponsor programs on radios and T.V.s to enlighten,educate and create awareness with the people on the need to come together as one to fight bribery,corruption and bad governance to a stand still!

Revolution Naija!

I just read something about how much the President and his vice were going to spend on food and kitchen utensils (N992million+,almost a Billion Naira!)along with readers' comments on facebook.The majority believed the story while a few thinks it's too ridiculous a story to make the headlines.The part that seems to bother me is not the amount of money they spend on food but how my people reacted to it.
As usual,the majority ended up just praying and giving no sign of doing anything about it.The remaining few,on the other hand (as usual too),a part was dreaming of becoming an equally corrupt President one day,others think it's high time we revolt against the government just the Arabs did.The question is:You chop liver like the Arabs???
You see,I marvel at the way some people think.Revolution,REVolution,REVOLUtion,REVOLUTION!!!The majority of those screaming this word know next to nothing about how revolution works.All they know about it what they have been told it is,most really don't know what it entails.
Yes,Nigeria needs a revolution but what type of revolution do we need,what type of revolution would be most effective and least expensive to run?
Obviously,the one that the Arabs are currently running are way to expensive and much more counter productive.Take Libya for instance.
Libya got what they currently see as freedom after a protracted conflict that lasted for months and has brought a rebel group to replace a constituted government to power.
Now,let's ask ourselves:'what was the need for the revolt in the first place,is it that the man in power wasn't delivering,do they really had to take to arms to remove him?'
Irrespective of what you think about this case,you'll agree that Ghadaffi was revolted against NOT BECAUSE HE WAS NOT DELIVERING THE DIVIDENDS OF GOVERNMENT TO HIS PEOPLE BUT FOR A TRIVIAL ISSUE OF HIS LONG STAY IN OFFICE AND HIS PROPOSED PLAN TO SUCCEED HIMSELF WITH HIS SON!His only offense was that he spent 42 years in power,even his enemies could not say he wasn't delivering to his people!
According to sources available to me, Ghadaffi made housing as a matter of human right for Libyans and Power supply was FREE not to mention the fact that Libya under him owes no debts and their reserve was $150 Billion up!Now,compare that to the bankrupt U.S. (owing over $10 trillion and still counting!) and her NATO allies' economies (the Eurozone of the verge of collapse)that helped topple a constituted government replacing it with a rebel leadership.
Look at Egypt that once had a democracy but its people 'decided' to topple it for the same ridiculous reason of tenure longevity.About 5000 dead in Syria over same claims.All these going on while Queen Elizabeth still rule supreme without any disturbance what so ever;50 years on the throne and still counting!
Why is the UK not asking her to live.Some would say she's not politically involved.If she's that irrelevant in UK's government,then,why should the British continue to allow her stay up there?Do you know that she's more like the overall head of Common wealth countries???
Look,my people,I'm not saying we shouldn't revolt,in fact,I'm a vanguard advocate for a change BUT NOT A BLOODY ONE!
Nigerians,we can revolt PEACEFULLY WITHOUT THE USUAL RALLIES AND PUBLIC CAMPAIGNS THAT MOST OFTEN THAN NOT END UP VIOLENT.
We got options and it's these options we need to explore.Revolution,yes,but NOT A BLOODY REVOLUTION!
